Dr. Roland Brown Book Signing
August 12 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Dr. Roland Brown will join us on Saturday, August 12 from 2-3:30 pm to sign copies and share about his new memoir–“Healing Hands: Four Decades of Relief and Mission in Taiwan”.
From a missionary kid in rural, war-torn northern China to high school in Pyongyang, medical training in the United States, and a vocation dedicated to medical mission in Taiwan, this memoir chronicles both the difficulties and rewards to building and expanding Mennonite Christian Hospital into a large, modern, state-of-the-art regional teaching hospital of renown. Read how the Browns nurtured three adopted children and boxer dogs, and learn about Sophie’s role in administering the growth of the New Dawn Educare Center for mentally-challenged person. For his work in providing medical care for the marginalized aborigines and the advancement of medical practice in Taiwan, Dr. Brown received special recognition from the Taiwan government and the City of Hualien. As you read about the compassionate ministry in the name of Christ to “the least of these”, you will pick up details of surgical procedures from the stories of patience treated by Dr. Brown. This memoir is not only an intriguing missionary saga, but serves as a valuable historical record for Mennonite Children’s Hospital. For Taiwan mission alumni this is a must read, and those engaged in medical missions will find it informative and inspirational.
