Books wash away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

How true the above statement is.  Books take you to places you can only dream about.  This morning I pondered the question:  Why do some books resonate so intimately with your soul and others do not?  I have discovered a new author and I connected with warmth and a sense of connectedness with his first two books that I didn’t feel with his next two books.

In my pondering it comes to me that the books and stories that resonate so deeply in my heart and spirit are touching on some aspect of my life that God is using to speak to my heart on a deeper level and showing me a way of seeing the person God created me to be that I have left dormant for far too long.

John 1:1 tells us, “In the beginning the Word already existed.  The Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  Jesus is the Word John is telling us about.  In Genesis chapter 1 we are told that God spoke the earth and everything in it into existence.  This tells me how powerful God’s Word is and that words in general can have a powerful impact on our lives.  God’s Word in our Bibles is comprised of 66 books of the most powerful words we will ever read.

As I come back to my question I find that the stories and books that speak so intimately with my soul are drawing me back to the Word of God Jesus Christ my Savior.
